OpenAI has announced the launch of a new feature that will allow the ChatGPT artificial intelligence app to respond to users’ voice questions and commands with five different voices.
Starting in the next two weeks, users will be able to choose a voice in OpenAI’s chatbot app. There will be a total of five votes available. OpenAI noted that voiceover actors were involved in creating an artificial intelligence model that would convert text into human speech.
ChatGPT will also create an audio version of the text generated on request, speaking it in the voice of your choice. At the same time, despite ChatGPT’s ability to invent lyrics to songs, the chatbot refuses to sing, the article says.
The new feature will be available to ChatGPT Plus monthly subscription holders, which costs $20 per month, as well as enterprise users.
Enabling ChatGPT’s voice response feature can make users feel like they’re having a “more human” conversation with the chatbot. In addition, with the help of the new function, the chatbot will be able to compete with the voice assistants of well-known companies, for example, Google (Google Assistant), Apple (Siri) or Amazon (Alexa).
